.Hello World.

Hello world. I am Silas Jackson Andrus. I was born on April 18, 2009 at 8:42 AM. I weighed 6 lbs 14 oz and was 19 inches long.

What a cute name, you say!? Well, thank you. Would you like to know more about it? Ok, here we go.

Silas? Pronounced, Si-Lus. Where did my parents come up with that name? Well, my mom was looking through names and ran across this and after doing some research to see where it originated from decided this was a perfect, strong name for me! Silas is a biblical character who was thrown in jail with Peter in the book of Acts for preaching the word of God. Shortly after being in jail an earthquake shook the land and the jail crumbled to the ground. To the guards surprise neither man ran with the rest of the inmates and so the guard asked what he had to do to be saved and the two men simply told him to believe in God. The guard then the prisoners to his own house where he gave them clean clothes to wear and cleaned up their wounds from being beat and thrown into the jail. Paul and Silas were very brave men and so that is how I came to be named Silas. And my middle name, Jackson, is in honor of my Great-Great-Uncle Jack Scanlan who was recently awarded the POW Medal from WWII. Mom was not a big fan of the name "Jack" so she proposed the name "Jackson" and that was that.

Below is a video that my daddy made! Check it out and keep checkin back for posts about...me :)

.Nursery.

As I had stated a while back I was re-finishing the crib that Quinn's mom had bought us. Although the project was finished months ago, I am just now posting the pictures of our completed nursery. Check em out ;)
I took the crib and sanded it down and after many, many deliberations in colors and stains I opted to go with a high gloss black paint and it is beautiful :)

I also chose the cutest nursery set. It is a cute contemporary piece. The sheets are earth tone polka dots, the bumper is stripes in the same colors as the polka dots and the blankies have a cute monkey head on them. The changing pad cover for the changing table we have is also matching, it has the same color polka dots and a green terry cloth stripe. :)
I also painted a dresser and bookshelf that I had the high gloss black and I got these adorable green and cream colored baskets for the bookshelf shelves. It's pretty dern cute, if I do say so myself ;)

My favorite nursery item. He may only be a couple days old but this rocking chair is already a saving grace!
Though all the other furniture is black this changing table is the most important piece of furniture. This was Alex's (Quinn's cousin) changing table. We love that we were given this to add to our nursery!
