.New Moon.

Yesterday morning I woke up and by the way i was acting, you would have thought that it was Christmas. The long awaited day had arrived. NEW MOON was coming out in theatres at 12:01! Here on the wonderful OBX it does not take much to get us excited. There were "tailgating" plans and everything...yeah, I know we are soooo cool.

Anyways, we finally get into the first theatre at 9:00 to watch Twilight.....HOW EXCITING! This was so much fun, we all got to sit together and have a good time except for the ladies sitting behind me. Before the lights were even dimmed, these old, drunk Cougars behind me were straddling each other and being so loud and annoying. As the movie began they were hootin & hollering and making moaning noises but suddenly not even half way through the movie it stopped!!! Curiously I turn around and this is what I see....
They passed out!!!!!! So of course I reach for my camera and snap a picture, not realizing just how bright my flash was. HAHAHAHAHAA everyone around me saw and started laughing. I'm really surprised they did not wake up!!!!

While we are all enjoying the first movie, every tween within a 50 mile radius it seemed was lining up in the lobby for New Moon....we all assumed that since we paid twice the money and are seeing two movies that we would at least have an advantage. OH NO!!!! Let me just tell you that we had to go to the END OF THE FLIPPIN LINE. Yeah, that's right1 I was so pissed.....in fact I am still pretty angry to be quite honest. And because we had to go to the end of the dern line we had NO WHERE to sit once we finally got to the theatre. So us being the geniuses we are, haul ass across the hall to other theatres and then the people who work there come running at us..."you have to stay in the your designated theatre!!"

My drunk, pissed off ass of course freaks out on the poor employee but you don’t mess with twilight fans! The kid is pointing out 2 seats here and 3 seats there and telling us too bad we have to split up and all the available seats are right up front....if I wanted to get a crink in my neck I could have stayed home. I wanted to sit up top with my damn friends!!!!!!! Finally we get set sitting somewhat near each other and it’s so uncomfortable. It was soooo hot in there and I dressed in my comfy sweats thinking it was going to be cold in the theater like it normally is and I was frying.

Needless to say, two of my group left and then, just what I predicted was going to happen, I FELL ASLEEP! (Note: it was not a deep slumber, more like nodding on and off)

Midnight is waayyyyyyyy past my bedtime! I was chugging energy drink and everything. BUT it is not like I haven't read all of the books. I knew what was going to happen. It's ok though. I have it downloading right now, in HD so I can watch Edward and Jacob go at it every night!!!!

Let the countdown to Eclipse in June 2010 begin ;)

Silas Jackson Andrus!
Silas is now SEVEN months old!!! WOW! I can not believe how the time flies! Little Man has TWO teeth and is standing up along the side of the couch and starting to take a step or two while holding on. I don't think it will be too long before we have a walker.....I give it to Christmas!
Little Man got a new bath tub that he is just in love with along with a bath time basketball game!....You know, gotta get 'em trained early if he is going to be the next Hansborough!!!
We can't wait till next week to share our first major holiday together as a family with Silas and he can not wait for the dumplings and the mash potatos and all the yummy stuff I know his Great Grandma will be sneaking him on Turkey Day! ;)

.Happy Halloween.

Of course, the first Halloween in years that I was not dressed in a "barely-there" costume and its in the 70's.....go figure! This complicated things for little man's first Halloween! His costume was a pumpkin sweatshit and sweatpantsthat that his "GT" (Grandma Teri, Quinn's Mom) got him from the always wonderful Babies R US. Poor Silas was sweatin like a mexi in his getup so, that did not stay on for very long!
We took Silas to see both sets of grandparents and made a pit-stop at Ocean Blvd. where Silas was the only customer in his costume! Too bad he didnt get a free martini or anything ;)
I really wanted to take him trick or treating just to steal his candy but we just came back home and watched scary movies!

The Headless Horseman

Can't wait till Saturday! It's Silas' first Halloween and even though we are not taking him trick or treating he has a cute little costume/outfit he will be sporting as we go and visit some family members!!!

.Happy Birthday!.

Happy SIX month Birthday
to
Silas Jackson Andrus

Yesterday we went to little man's 6 month check up! My little ham now weighs 21 lbs and is 27 inches long!!!! The doctor was quite amazed at how "advanced" he is. She came in and started telling me how he will start sitting up, eating big boy food, crawling, etc. and I began to tell her that this little boy alrady does all that.

Silas now sits up on his own with no support, crawls around the house and eats his big boy food and drinks from his sippy cup.

AND big news people, Silas has started to pull himself up using the couch and his crib to a standing position where he will stand for a good 5 minutes or so before falling back down!

I am going to predict that I have an early walker on my hands ;). Which is fine with me because he is too heavy to hold.

Silas' doctor did ask if he was sleeping through the night and unfortunately he is not. She informed me that the best thing to do is to just let him wake up in the middle of the night and cry himself back to sleep because his bottle before bed should hold him over to the morning.

We tried this last night and I did not turn off the baby monitor and from about 3 to 5:30 Silas was just a talking and playing in his crib with periodic crying. However, I did not disturb him. We are going to keep trying this and hopefully it will work. Once he gets the sleeping through the night down then it will be easier for him to have sleep overs at his grandparents! ;)

.Happy Birthday!.

Happy FIVE Month Birthday
to
Silas Jackson Andrus.

For the past month and a half or so, Silas has been eating his "big boy food". He loves bananas and pears more than anything! Not only does he eat his big boy food but he has started to use a big boy sippy cup at breakfast and dinner!!!

He is still not sleeping completely through the night. He wakes up at about 4:30 or 5:00 but thats really not too bad so I don't mind!

OHHH Boy! Do we have a scooter on our hands. The days of laying him on his playmat and going to the bathroom or in the kitchen are OVER!! He is almost to the point where I can say he is crawling but for now we will say he is just scooting ;)!

We went to the beach for the first time last saturday as well. He's a natural!!! He loved playing in the sand though at one point he started trying to eat...ewww!

He now weighs 18lbs and is 26 inches long! He is in the 95th percentile ;)
Poor little feller, he had to get two shots that day and he did NOT like that!

Yay, what a big boy!!!

.We're Moving!.

Yes, that's right, we are moving!
Last year when I was trying to find a new home I missed out on this home so when it came back on the market I POUNCED on it. It is just too cute and has a phenomenal view of the sound!
Oh and did I forget to mention that it is two houses down from my best friend...yeah its pretty cool ;)

Be jealous, I know you are ;).

.Updates Galore!.

First and foremost, please excuse my blogging absence. Juggling two jobs and family time is quite the overwhelming task. But summer is coming to an end which is bittersweet. One I will not be quite to busy but two I will not being making bank like I am now. I definately can not wait for next summer when Silas can walk, run and play and we can go to the beach and be out in the sun!!!!
ANYWAYS.....
Wow, it has been four months since my lil' man was born. You know when people used to tell me that the time will just fly right on by I did not believe them. But it really does!! Silas is growing so fast. Unfortunately I bought a lot of cute 6 - 9 months clothes for fall and winter and he can already wear them. He is such a ham!!!!

Silas has now learned to rollover which is pretty cute! Wont be long till we have a crawler on our hands ;)!

He loves his new big boy food!!!

We recently took a trip to Danville, VA to go visit Quinn's Mamaw for her birthday! Silas is her first Great-Grand Child and she was so excited to see him!! It takes a good five (5) hours to get to Danville and Mr. Silas slept the whoolllleeee way! It was amazing. I was thinking he was going to wake up every couple hours and be hungry and we would have to stop and take care of him but nothing! I hope it can stay like that when he gets older ;).

.Moody in Maine.

This year Quinn and I were unable to go to Maine with his family. It is just too much to travel with a newborn. First of all I would not fly with him cause I would hate to be that person on the plane that has the annoying screaming baby and driving is just way too much! BUTTTT Silas recieved a souviener from our favorite breakfast joint in Maine, Moody's Diner. Enjoy the pictures below!

.Happy Birthday Quinn.

Happy Birthday Quinn!
So today was Quinn's 28th birthday! This morning I made a delicious breakfast of french toast, sausage and eggs! YUMMMMY!!! :) Unfortunately Quinn would not leave the office at all today because he was working on his dern website he has been making for the construction company. It is coming along great and looks amazing. Adobe Go Live! is the shiiiiitttt for those of you trying to create your own website ;).
I surprised Quinn with some alone time by dropping Silas off with my parents and taking him to see Transformers 2! Great movie! Way better than the first one and obviously there will be a third! Then we went to one of his favorite restaurants, Black Pelican, for a few beers and some dinner! We were going to let Silas stay the night at my parents but we decided to just go pick him up because we are obsessed with him and can not stand to be away from him. Haha! Overall Quinn had a great birthday and that's all that matters! :)

.Silas Update.

Today we went to Silas' two month check up and he now weighs 12lbs 12oz. He also got 3 shots for his vaccinations today and I was surprised at how well he took it. Which was better than me ;). I felt so bad watching him get those shots and his little face light up like, "What the !&#*!!!!!" but as soon as mommy picked him up, there were no more tears! His doctor was amazed at how "chatty" he is. Yes I said chatty! Which is true. He talks up a storm and looovveessss it when we talk back in his language. He is full of smiles and giggles which I must say is the cutest thing. It is hilarious when he is sleeping and he starts laughing in his sleep! I wish I knew what it is he is dreaming about....probably the boob or the bottle, but really who knows!

We bought Silas one of those baby "gyms" and he loves to lay on that thing and stare up at the fan and all the little things that hang from the arches of the gym. There is a mirror that can connect to one of the arches and I catch him staring at himself and it is just the funniest thing. The other day he was sound asleep in his swing and all of a sudden we heard a fart that seriously went on for a 10-15 seconds and we're just sitting there laughing wondering how such a long and big fart can come out of something so small and poor Silas it scared the crap out him. He jumped and woke up and started crying! I know it sounds sad because he started crying but really, when you think about it in your head to see a little baby have a fart so big that it scares him and wakes him up, its kind of funny!

Silas has also got quite a nose on him. He can be asleep or playing on his gym then whole time I am cooking food but as soon as it is time for us to eat he must be held or be near us so we started putting him in his highchair next to us when we eat. At first he was a little hesitant but now he just loves it. He likes to be up there like a big boy!

Overall, Silas is doing great and growing like a weed! We are almost out of Newborn clothes and into the 0-3 and even some 3-6 month stuff! Keep checking back for updates!

.Happy Fathers Day.

Starting on Friday Silas and I tried to do a little arts and crafts project for Quinn's first fathers day. My initial plan was to make a mold of Silas' hands using a recipe that I have where you mix boiling salt water and flour together to make the "clay" then you press your hands into the "clay" and bake for 3 hours. Yeah, that did NOT work at all. First Silas would press his hands into it but then he would grasp the "clay" and mess up the mold of his hand. Once I finally got a somewhat good mold going and baked the dern thing for 3 hours, it did not turn out right at all. I was so upset! So then I went to the wonderful Wally-World and got a hand mold kit. Same thing. Every time I put his hands into the mixture he would start grabbing at it rather than just leaving his hand flat and making the hand print. After re-doing the hand dipping process like five times the plaster dried up and the kit was done-so :(. By this time I was getting PISSED! So I went to Wally-World, AGAIN, and got yet another kit but this time I was smart enough not to do Silas' hands. We did his feet!!! Much better idea with a 2 month old. Although the finished project did not look that great because Silas was wiggling it is still the thought that counts I suppose.

.A Sunday Morning Tragedy.

President Obama said it all when he said, "However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence."
I believe a woman should have the right to choose if she wants to keep her child or not. Abortion is a personal choice that every woman should have the right to. I am not saying that every time you pop up pregnant that this should be your run to answer if the pregnancy was not planned but if you were raped for instance and did not want the constant reminder of what happened to you it should be your choice. If you are not in a healthy state of mind or in a secure financial state to provide for a child then perhaps you should contemplate bringing an innocent life into your screwed up world. Whatever your opinion is on abortion, it is just that. Your opinion.
But sadly this weekend a 51 year old man by the name of Scott Roeder took upon himself to shot Doctor George Tiller who has been the center of the abortion controversy for years for his practice of performing late-term abortions, meaning if a woman was at the twenty-second week or further along. Doctor Tiller's clinic is located in Kansas which, as we all know is in the heart of the bible belt. Mid-West states are crazy with religion and evangelistic residences of the Mid-West have been after him for years. In 1986, his clinic was bombed. In 1991, it was blockaded for six weeks. In 1993, he was shot in both arms. In March, Kansas prosecutors tried him on charges of breaking an abortion law; he was acquitted. In May, vandals cut wires to security cameras and made holes in the roof of Tiller's clinic.
The most disturbing factor of this assassination is that Doctor Tiller was attending church on Sunday where he was working as an usher and his wife, Jeanne, was in the choir when he was gunned down at about 10 a.m. CHURCH people. He was at church! How fucked up of a person do you have to be to commit any act of violence in a church. This man was the father of four and a grandfather to ten. No matter what Mr. Roeder's view on abortion was he had no right to take away someones husband, father, grandfather and friend. This is the first assassination of an abortion doctor since Dr. Barnett Slepian was killed by a sniper at his home in Amherst, N.Y., in 1998.
My thoughts are with the Tiller family as they grieve this unforeseen tragedy.

.New Moon.

We are getting one step closer to the release of the next Twilight film, New Moon. If you have not read the series or at least seen the first movie then you are a big fat LOSER and should probably jump on the Twilight train ASAP! ;)

Check out the new trailer and yummy Jacob with no shirt!!!

Unfortunately, we all know that no movie is exactly like the book but I am sure that since Twilight was such a phenomenon that New Moon will be a much better directed and played out movie!!! AHHHH, I can not wait till November!

.Corolla Wild Horse Tragedy.

So for as long as I can remember the Corolla Wild Horses have been apart of my life. My family has been involved with the Corolla Wild Horse Fund and when I was just a baby my family banded together and built a beach house down at the very end of Corova beach, just feet from the Virginia border. I have so many wonderful memories from that house and that beach. Of course now, just like every other part of the Outer Banks, Corova beach is slowing being built up by monstrosities houses.

When I would visit our beach house, nicknamed "The Hut" I would love waking up to the crazy rooster next door that did not just crow at dawn but ALL day long and then looking out the window and/or front door and seeing a horse or two. One summer, my grandfather was cutting the grass and felt a nudge/tap on his shoulder and assumed it was my grandmother and was astonished to turn around and see a wild horse standing there just saying Hey! These animals are amazing to me and as most of you may know I am not that big of a fan of horses anyways because they always tend to buck me off but for some reason these horses do not scare me at all. Anytime they see a camera it's like they stop what they are doing and pose so that you can get that perfect shot. There has never been a report of any Corolla Wild Horse attacking or harming any human or their property and so it brings me to the question, why would a human harm them?

The Corolla Wild Horses are not only endangered but are a treasured icon of the Corolla area of the Outer Banks. This Memorial Day Weekend some rich, prick asshole staying in Corova killed a beautiful stallion who went by the name Spec. He was featured in many of the posters and brochures for the Wild Horses. Sadly the asshole who killed this horse did not even have the guts to finish what they started. They hit his left hind leg and it was reported that it was hit with such force that it was snapped completely in two and the horse was euthanized at 2:30 p.m. on May 23rd. There were ATV tracks all around where the horse was originally seen on the beach at 6:43 a.m. It is possible that ATV’s were being used to chase the horse and then hit him. Residents reported hearing ATV’s tearing around at 1 and 2 a.m. With this information I can conclude that the people who hit this innocent creature were most likely WASTED and that is no excuse. I just can not fathom causing harm to any animal let alone hurting and then leaving it to suffer and die. This AMAZING horse drug himself up over the dunes over a mile from where he was first seen. I have no words to describe what the last few hours were like for Spec. He did not want to die and he fought and struggled long and hard, poor boy he must have been terrified! Back in 2007 someone shot one of the wild horses and there have been many, many other shootings and the shooter has never been found. Then in April of this year there was yet another hit and run where the horse was left to suffer. When the horse was found he was literally shaking from the effort of holding himself up...he knew if he went down he wouldn't be able to get back up again This is completely uncalled for. No animal should suffer needlessly.

FYI: Spec is the horse that is in the center of this picture.

If you have any information about these tragedies, there is a town meeting at the Corolla Firehouse at 5:30 PM today. Please CLICK HERE to join the fight in saving and protecting these beautiful creatures and if you are regular blogger, CLICK HERE to follow the Corolla Wild Horse Fund's blog.

.....FYI, I have been crying the whole time writing this not only cause I find this story so upsetting and repulsing but I am so pissed that some stupid tourist would do something so cruel. And then people wonder why the locals hate them so much when they come here...
